Welcome to the AI Settings page! This is where you can customize your AI SMS chatbot to perfectly match your business's voice and goals. By creating custom prompts, you can guide the AI to handle conversations effectively, whether a lead is contacting you for the first time or you are reaching out to them.

Navigating to AI Settings

1. Log in to your TalkWiz.ai account.
2. From the main menu on the left, navigate to Account Settings.
3. Click on AI Settings.

Core AI Configuration

Before writing prompts, let's define your AI's identity.

• AI Agent Name: This is the name your AI will use when introducing itself in conversations. Choose a name that aligns with your brand. This name will be automatically inserted wherever you use the {{agent_name}} variable.

Understanding Custom Prompts: Inbound vs. Outbound

Your AI can handle two different types of initial conversations, and you can create a unique prompt for each scenario.

Inbound Prompts (When leads contact you)

An inbound prompt is used when a potential customer finds your number and sends you a text message first. The goal of this prompt is to instruct your AI on how to respond, understand the lead's needs, and guide them toward your desired outcome (e.g., booking an appointment, answering a question).

• How it works: You define the AI's persona, its expertise, and what it should ask the customer.
• Example from the screenshot: Your name is {{agent_name}}. You are skilled and experienced in booking demos for people interested ({{business_name}}) a ({{business_type}}). This tells the AI its name, its purpose (booking demos), and gives it the context of your business.

Outbound Prompts (When you contact leads)

An outbound prompt is used when you initiate the conversation. This is common when you upload a list of leads (e.g., via CSV upload) and want the AI to start a nurturing sequence. The prompt guides the AI on how to introduce itself and what its opening message should be.

• How it works: This prompt is a direct instruction for the AI on how to craft its very first message to a new lead.
• As noted in the screenshot: The prompt should be a clear instruction for the AI. For example: Your prompt goes here for the AI to introduce itself when you reach out to customers.

How to Write Effective AI Prompts

Think of a prompt as a job description for your AI chatbot. The more specific and clear your instructions, the better it will perform.

Best Practices:

1. Define the Persona: Tell the AI who it is. Is it a friendly assistant, a formal concierge, or an expert consultant?
2. Provide Context: Give the AI background information about your business using the available variables:
   • {{agent_name}}: Your AI's name.
   • {{business_name}}: Your company's name.
   • {{business_type}}: The type of business you run (e.g., "real estate agency," "fitness studio").
3. State the Goal: What is the primary objective of the conversation? To book an appointment? Answer questions about pricing? Qualify the lead?
4. Give Clear Instructions: Tell the AI exactly what to do. For example, "Your goal is to get the lead's name and what service they are interested in, then offer to book a call."
5. Keep it Concise: While detailed, the prompt should be easy for the AI to understand. Avoid overly complex or contradictory instructions.

You can use a large language model like ChatGPT to help you brainstorm and write a powerful prompt for your TalkWiz AI. Simply copy the template below, fill in your business details, and paste it into ChatGPT.

Sample Prompt for ChatGPT (to write your TalkWiz Inbound Prompt)

I need to create a custom "Inbound Prompt" for my AI SMS chatbot on the TalkWiz.ai platform.

Test and Save Your AI Settings

Once you have written your prompts and configured your settings, it's crucial to test them.

Click the green Test & Save AI Settings button at the bottom of the page.

This will open a simulation window where you can have a sample conversation with your AI. Act like a potential customer and see how it responds based on your prompts. This allows you to fine-tune your instructions before the AI interacts with your actual leads.

When you are satisfied with the conversation flow, your settings will be saved and your AI chatbot is ready to go to work!
